This is a closeup I took of some beautiful sequin work on an Indian garment, known as a Kurti. Many Kurtis including this one, are tunic style. Colors in this type of clothing tend to be vibrant and colorful. Kurtis are designed with different patterns and designs and are a very popular type of Hindu clothing.

The Chendamelam
The Kerala Hindu Onam Ponnonam 2014 Celebration happens once a year at the Indo American Cultural Center, Phoenix, AZ. This is a drummer during the Chendamelam. The Chenda is a cylindrical wooden drum measuring about 2 feet by 1 foot. The drum is covered with a skin called the Chenda Vattam, which is usually from cows. There is song, dance and percussion at the event. This was a drumming song performed by several drummers. I took a closeup of one of the Chendas.
